Richard III – York International Shakespeare Festival

“That bottled spider, that foul hunch-backed toad!”

Jealous and crippled, Richard of Gloucester craves the ultimate power and uses manipulation and deceit to achieve his goal. Unscrupulous to his core, he removes any opposition which lies between him and the crown. The action, featuring the cut and thrust at the hub of Westminster politics and power, with laws ignored and lies sown, will strike a modern chord.

York Shakespeare Project launches its new mission with director Daniel Roy Connelly’s bold interpretation of one of Shakespeare’s greatest villains.
