Summer Theatre School 2015: A N.E.E.T. opportunity

Flying-Colours-030-5002---WEBWe’re thrilled to announce that we have a number of free places at this year’s Summer Theatre School for those not in education, employment or training (N.E.E.T.)

This opportunity has been made possible by the astonishing generosity of some of our Riding Lights Members. So if you know anyone who might benefit from a free place at this year’s Summer School (particularly if they’ve not attended previously), we’d love to offer them a space. Who do you know who would really benefit from a creative holiday? This could include someone who will finish their A Levels or a degree this summer, someone wanting to improve their theatre skills, or someone looking for work who just needs some time out and would really enjoy the week.

Interested? Give us a call on 01904 655317 or email bernadette@rltc.org.

Our Summer Theatre School is one of the highlights of our year, largely due to the lively, creative community it generates each year. In 2015 it is taking place at Queen Margaret’s school outside York on 25th July to 1st August.

You can read more about the week, and the courses on offer here.

Springs Dance at Summer Theatre School

We are very pleased to that Springs Dance Company will we joining us at our 2015 Summer Theatre School, leading a new Giant Leaps course. Here are the details…

GIANT LEAPS (age 19-90)

Professional tutors from Springs Dance will work with participants to develop skills in a range of choreographic methods such as interpreting text through movement and, taking our Summer School theme, will devise a short piece for performance at the end of the week. Whilst energy and enthusiasm are prerequisites for Giant Leaps, the course is suitable for both those who are completely new to dance as well as those with prior dance training.

You can find out more about the full range of Summer School courses for 2015 here.

A NEET Summer School Opportunity

Flying Colours 030-5002We are pleased to announce that we are able to offer up to five free places for our 2014 Summer Theatre School, specifically for people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). All thanks to a very generous private donation.

We would love to make the Summer School available to anyone irrespective of price, but the reality is we have to charge a fee to cover the cost of the school, feeding everyone, providing a professional staff team, facilities, and importantly having some fun. While we try to keep costs to a minimum, one is inevitable. Therefore it’s wonderful when others as just as keen to help us make Summer School as even more accessible!

So, is there someone you know who would really enjoy our Summer School, but would struggle with the cost? Particularly, we’d love to offer these places to people who are new to the Summer Theatre School.

Of course you may not meet the criteria yourself, but please have a think about others who might benefit and spread the word. More info on the NEET places can be found on the costs page.

Don’t Forget – Early Booking ends 31 January

For those who are in education, employment or training, there are still options – don’t forget you can still apply for a bursary, and the 10% discount for early booking ends 31 January! More info here.

So, from 26th July to 2nd August 2014 we’ll be returning to the beautiful surrounds of Queen Margaret’s School in York. It’s long been a favourite venue for our summer school with a fantastic theatre, excellent food, great accommodation and facilities, not to mention beautiful grounds.

They’ll be more information on the courses and the theme for the week, though we do know that we’re planning to run the same range of courses as last year (being super eager, the Face The Music tutors have already chosen the show participants will be tackling – you can find out here)

There’s more to say over on our Summer School pages of this website, but the key thing to note right now is that we have a 10% early booking discount for anyone who registers before the 31st of December 2013.

Pictures galore!

Hello, its Andrew again. Here are some more pictures from Summer School, including Sporting Mayhem, The Member’s Event on Wednesday night and The Final Night Party on Friday night. Just like my last entry to this blog, what I have done is create a big collection of these photos on Flickr, with lots of little sets to make them easier to browse.

The whole collection can be found here or you can click on each picture below to be taken to a slide show of each of the sets I have made, or click on the title to see a gallery of the photos.

Lots More Summer School Photos

Hello, its Andrew writing again. I’ve just been sorting through all of the hundreds of photos I took at Summer Theatre School this year, and I have whittled them down to a number of little sets. There are far too many for me to show them all individually here, it would be an ugly mess, so what I have done is create a big collection of these photos on Flickr, with lots of little sets to make them easier to browse.

The whole collection can be found here or you can click on each picture below to be taken to a slide show of each of the sets I have made, or click on the title to see a gallery of the photos.
