About STS

Our Summer Theatre School is a week-long festival of fun, friendship and – of course – theatre! Join us for this unique, creative non-competitive holiday experience full of the joy of making theatre.

Who for: Anyone aged 14 – 90 yrs who loves theatre-making. Most of our participants return year after year so you will always be in good company.

Dates: Mon 31 July – Sun 06 Aug 2023

Venue: St Peter’s School, York

Cost: £565, includes full board and all activities

Accommodation: is all onsite and are grouped by age. Under 18s will share accommodation, whilst over 18s will have their own room. Everyone will share bathroom and kitchenette facilities.

Food: All food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is included and dietary requirements are catered for. There is also a tuck shop and bar available.

What else happens during the week? As well as the courses there are lots of other aspects of the week you can enjoy including; a choice of creative theatre workshops, several performances by Riding Lights, an exclusive Members event (if you’re an RL member), quiet spaces for reflection, Sunday and mid-week service.

What’s unique about it? Our summer theatre school is a truly unique week combining theatre and faith, led by professional theatre-makers in a supportive and nurturing setting. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to take part in all aspects of the week, and many of our participants come again and again, for the theatre, community and lifelong friendships that are made.
